Hagar Harriet Reeve (nee Armes) (1840 – 20 September 1901)
Hagar was born in Lyng in Norfolk, and was the daughter of agricultural labourer Christopher Armes and his wife Rebecca. Lyng is a village 12 miles north west of Norwich, and lies on the river Wensum. She grew up on Primrose Green in Lyng. Aged 20 she was living in Norwich with her aunt Mary Stewart, and working as an upholsterer. She married Seth Christmas Reeve [1843-1926] in Norwich in 1866.
Seth Reeve worked as a plasterer and by 1871 the couple were living at 1 Norfolk Terrace in Cambridge. By 1881 they had moved to Polar Cottage, 10 Sturton Street, and Seth was employing eight men in his business at that time. Hagar and Seth had three children: Mary Rosa, Harry George and Bertie Seth (1881-1969).
By 1891 Seth had changed career and was working as a cycle agent. The family lived at 32-34 Norfolk Street (1891) and then at 2 Mill Road (at least 1901 onwards). Hagar died in 1901 aged 60 years old.
Seth Reeve remarried in 1903 to Hannah Evangeline Stevens (1855-1932). He died in Norwich in 1926.
Mary Rosa Reeve (1873 – 10 May 1881)
Mary was the eldest daughter of Hagar and Seth Reeve. She was registered as Rosina Mary Reeve, and was most probably named after Seth’s sister of the same name. She died at home aged 7 years old at Polar Cottage, Sturton Street.
Harry George Reeve (1880 – 16 September 1884)
Harry was the middle child of Hagar and Seth Reeve. He died aged 3 years old.
