Robert Booth Campbell Brown (c 1873 – 1893)
Robert was a 19 year old student at Trinity Hall. At the time of his death he was living at 61a St Andrews Street, Cambridge, with his mother Jane Brown née Garrett and younger brother. His father the Hon Stephen Campbell-Brown had died suddenly in 1882, in Sydney, New South Wales where he was a member of the Legislative Council.
Robert was brought up in Sydney, Australia. He matriculated from Sydney Grammar School in 1892.
The inquest into his death drew on witness statements. It seemed Robert was making a good job of rowing on the River Cam close to Bridge Street. A splash was heard but no one saw him fall in. Nobody nearby was able to swim so a boat was sent for but by the time he was pulled out of the water he had drowned.
