Alfred Roberts (10 November 1875 –  c. March 1940)

Alfred was the eldest child of Peter and Eliza (née List) and was born in Saffron Walden.  By 1886 the family had moved to live at Sedgwick Street in Cambridge and Peter worked as a stonemason.  Alfred worked briefly as a tailor (1891) but later also worked as a stonemason.  In 1911 he was lodging in Maidstone, Kent with the Day family, and signed up to serve in the 1st World War in February 1916 by which time he was living in Islington. From his army records it is known he was 5ft 5inches tall. By 1935 he had returned to live at 161 Mill Road with his brother Frederick and sister in law.

Frederick Charles Roberts (9 March 1886 – 30 November 1948)

Frederick was born in Cambridge but baptised in Saffron Walden on 13 June 1886. He briefly worked as a telegraph messenger (1901) and then also worked as a stonemason. He married Flora Ellen Wain (1894-1974) in 1921 in her home town of Ashby de la Zouch,  Leicestershire.  They lived with his widowed mother at 161 Mill Road, and then with his brother Charles. Frederick died at home aged 62 years old.

Flora remained in Cambridge until at least 1960 and died in Ashby de la Zouch.
