These kerbstones lie roughly 5 rows east of the central path and 1 row north of the south path in the parish of Holy Trinity. Many of the metal letters are missing from the inscriptions but the kerbs and corner posts are intact.

In Ever Loving Memory of My dear husband SIDNEY GEORGE RULE who fell asleep June 19th 1928 aged 41

Also RONALD SIDNEY RULE his son who gave his life in HMS Galatea Dec 15 1941 aged 19  years

Sidney George Rule (1886 – 19 June 1928)

Sidney was the eldest son of George and Sarah (née Penning) and grew up at 38 Paradise Street (1891) and 33 City Road (1901/1911). Both his parents worked as college servants and aged 24 Sidney was working as a pattern maker for an engineering company. He married Margaret Ellen Anderson (1891-1960) in 1919 and they lived at 28 Hartingdon Grove.  The couple had two sons: Ronald Sidney (1922-1941) and Dennis George (1926-2017)
He died at Addenbrookes Hospital aged 42 years old.

Able Seaman Ronald Sidney Rule (15 June 1922 – 15 December 1941)

Ronald died on H.M.S. Galatea aged 19 years old. The ship was torpedoed and sunk by a german submarine off Alexandria, Egypt. The Captain and 447 ratings were killed.  100 sailors survived.
