“Gone but not forgotten”

Frank Ezekiel Ruse (1872 – 31 December 1914)

Frank was born in West Wratting, and was the son of Henry and Annie Ruse, and  brother of Octavius.  His father was a master harness maker, and he grew up in the village.  He married Bessie Farrow in West Wrattng in 1898.  They had one daughter: Doris Ann (1901-1970).  The couple lived at 71 Kingston Street, and Frank worked as a house painter (1901) and then as a plumber (1911).  He died on New Years Eve 1914 aged 42 years old.

Bessie Ruse (née Farrow)(8 June 1874 – 9 June 1943)

Bessie was born in Thurlow, just outside Cambridge and married Frank Ruse when she was 24 years old.  After his death she moved to 7 Perowne Street (at least 1920 onwards) where she ran a Lodging House.  She was resident in Cambridge in the register of September 1939, but died in Cornwall.   Her daughter Doris had married confectionery salesman John Mutton Skentelbery (1900-1960) in 1931.  John originated from Looe, and in 1939 John and Doris were living in Redruth, Cornwall.   It is probable that she was either visiting Doris when she died, or had moved to Cornwall after 1939.  Bessie died the day after her 69th birthday.
