We haven’t  found this broken headstone so it may have become buried. It is located 1 row to the east of the west path between the headstones of Clarke and Swann. The grave register was used to help us complete the inscription.

BERTHA SUTTON the beloved wife of JOHN SAGGERS d January 26 1880 aged 38

Bertha Sutton Saggers (née Harding) (1844 – 26 January 1886) 

Bertha was the only daughter of George and Mary (née Rollings) Harding. She grew up at 31 Coronation Street and her father worked as a bricklayer and later as a builder.  Bertha married Varlander John Murcutt (1842-1867) at St. Paul’s Church on 27 September 1866.  Varlander was a collector for the Cambridge Waterworks Company but died aged 26 the year after they married.   Bertha then married John Saggers (1845-1908) at St. George’s Church, Hannover Square on 15 April 1869. John was a railway clerk and the couple had at least two sons: George Edwin (1870-1931) and Sidney Herbert (1872-1958).  In 1871 the family were living at 30 Norwich Street, and her father was also living with them.  Bertha died at Norwich Street aged 38 years old and was buried on  February 2nd.
