Sarah Ann Scotcher (née Heal) (1860 – 23 June 1901)

Sarah was born in Camerton, six miles west of Bath in Somerset and baptised there on 1 July 1860. She was the daughter of labourer John Heal and his wife Susanna and grew up in the village.  Aged 20 she was living in Bath and working as a lady’s maid to Margaret Heywood.  She married Walter Scotcher (1862-1938) in Cambridge in 1890.

John was a bricklayer’s labourer and they lived at 24 Mill Road (1891) and then 184 Mill Road (1901).  Sarah and John had four children: Walter John (1891-1977), Susan Winifred (1892-1984), Edward Henry (1896-1972) and Reginald George (1898-1969). Sarah died aged 41 years old.

Walter married for a second time in 1902 to Eliza Ann Johnson (1860-1946).  By 1911 he was working as a stoker at the cement works and living at 1 Henley Road, Coldham’s Lane.  He died at home aged 76 years old.
