Ruby May Smith (née Smith) (25 October 1908 – 20 May 1943)

Ruby was the daughter of Herbert and Beatrice (née Shudwick) Smith. Herbert Smith worked as fish salesman, and Ruby was brought up at 1 Coronation Buildings on Coronation Street with her brothers Herbert and Frederick.  She married George Smith in 1933, and in 1939 the couple were living at 2 Victoria Street.  Ruby was a lodging house keeper and George was a decorator.  Ruby died in Cambridge aged 34 years old.

 

George Edward Smith (2 August 1902 – 29 September 1945)

George was the son of George Cowell Smith and his wife Jessie.  He grew up at 7 Emmanuel Street, and his father worked as a decorator.  He married Ruby Smith when he was 30 years old and died two years after her aged 43 years old.
