William Stevens (c.1817 – 1 August 1881)

William was the son of Henry and Elizabeth Stevens.  He was born in Littleport, and baptised there on 16th February 1817.  In 1841 William was living in Cambridge and working as a sadler.  He married Harriet Cole on 4 October 1855 at St. Benet’s Church  and they lived at 65 Sidney Street (1861 and 1871) and later at 63 Regent Street.  William was a sadler and harness maker. In 1861 the census shows that he was employing 3 men.

William and Catherine had one daughter: Catherine Elizabeth who died aged 16 years old. William died in Hunstanton in August 1881, aged 63 years old. Perhaps he had gone there on a summer holiday.  He died leaving an estate of £3,050 11s 9d.

Harriet Stevens (née Cole) (c.1824 – 26 December 1893)

Harriet was the youngest child of Simon and Ann Cole. She was born in Holywell cum Needingworth, where her father was a farmer of c145 acres. She had two siblings:  Martin (1819-1871), William (1821-) and Martha (1820 – 1893).

After the death of her husband she lived at 63 Regent Street with her sister Martha.  Harriet died on 26th December, and Martha died the following day.

Catherine Elizabeth Stevens ( 1857 – 30 May 1874)

Catherine was the only daughter of William and Harriet Stevens.  She was baptised on 27th December 1857.  She grew up at 65 Sidney Street, Cambridge.  She died aged 16 years old in 1874.
