Relationship: Mother and son
Sidney Stevens (1894 – 2 January 1931)
Sideney was the son of George and Maria Stevens and was born in the hamlet of Coldham near Wisbech. He grew up at 131 Mill Road and died at Addenbrooke’s Hospital aged 36 years old.
Maria Ann Stevens (née Smith) (22 August 1859 – 8 January 1940)
Maria was born in Little Downham and was the daughter of George and Susan (née Jourdan). Her father was a farmer of 60 acres and Maria married railway worker George Stevens (1853-1902). The couple had eleven children: Ernest Herbert (1877-1956), Maud Mary (1881-), Sarah Elizabeth (1883-), Frederick George (1885-), Arthur Percy (1890-1949), Wilfred George (1892-1963), Sidney, Bertie (1895-), Hubert (1898-1972) and a further two children who died as infants. They started married life living at 21 Ainsworth Street and George worked as a signalman (1881), before moving to Coldham where he was the station master (at least 1891- 1898).

In 1901 the family were living at 131 Mill Road, and George had ben promoted to railway inspector. He died aged 49 and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 22 December, although from the Parish register it is not clear whether he was buried in this grave. Maria continued to live at 131 Mill Road with her youngest five children (1911). In 1939 she was living at 20 Chalmers Road with son Hubert and was documented as being incapacitated.
