Selina Stubbing (née Douglas) (1849 – 10 March 1912)
Selina was the daughter of miller William and Sarah Douglas. She was born in Duxford and grew up in Whittlesford. She married William Stubbing on 17 March 1870 in Sawston and they had eight children: Charles Douglas (1871-1937), Lilian Emily (1872-1960), Frederick William (1877-1965), Rosa Alice (1879-1880), Alice Maud (1881-), Florence Mabel (1884-1933), Hubert Arthur (1892-1971) and one more child who died as an infant.
William worked as a fellmonger (dealer in animal skins, usually skeepskin) and the family lived on London Road in Sawston, where all of their children were born. By 1901 they had moved to live at 15 Guest Road and William worked for a ‘skin company’ as a buyer. Selina died at 27 Mawson Road aged 62 years old.
William Stubbing (1843 – 1 April 1926)
William was born in Sawston where his parents Charles and Sarah ran the Bull Inn. By the age of 18 he was working as a fellmonger and married Selina when he was 26 years old. He died aged 83 at his son Frederick’s house at 82 Kimberley Road.
