Robert Swann (1820 – 6 January 1866)
Robert was born in Saffron Walden and was the son of carpenter Daniel Swann and Sarah. He was baptised in Saffron Walden on 28 May 1820 and by the age of 20 had moved to Cambridge and was working as a butcher in St. John’s Street. Robert married Sarah Stubblefield at All Saint’s Church on 30 October 1842 and they had one son: Edward Harvey (1844-1876). The family lived at 22 Coronation Street, where Robert continued to work as a butcher. He died at home aged 46 years old.
Sarah Swann (née Stubblefield) (c.1820 – 4 July 1896)
Sarah was born in Saffron Walden and was the daughter of Thomas Stubblefield. After she was widowed she initially worked as a housekeeper and lived at 11 Regent Street (1871). In 1881 she was living with her father-in-law Daniel Swann (1799-1887) at Bridge Street, Saffron Walden. She returned to live in Cambridge after the death of Daniel Swann and in 1891 was living at 43 Kingston Street. She died at home aged 77 years old.
