the beloved wife of NATHANIEL H. F. SYMONDS.
Died March 27 1905 aged 46
Louise Maria Gertrude Symonds (nee Barber) (1859 – 27 March 1905)
Louise was the daughter of Robert Barber and his wife Maria. She was born in Islington, and baptised at St Peters Church in Hackney on 6th February 1859. Her father was a warehouseman who died when Louise was young. She grew up with her mother Maria and grandfather at 6 Downing Terrace (1871/1881). Maria was a music teacher and her grandfather John Barrow was a coal merchant.
She married Nathaniel Henry Fish Symonds (1851-1928) in 1886. Nathaniel had studied at Cambridge, and was a registrar of marriages (1891) and then a solicitors managing clerk (1901). The couple lived at 6 Downing Terrace, and it is not believed that they had any children.
Louise (or Louisa as she had become known in later life) died at 51 Lensfield Road aged 46 years old.
After being widowed Nathaniel lived with his mother in law at 51 Lensfield Road, and when he died in 1928 was buried in the same plot as her rather than with his wife.
