Inscription

Kate Florence Taylor (née Hills) (9 October 1893 – 2 December 1941)

Kate was born in Linton,  the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Hills. In 1901 she was living at Bartlow Road with her widowed mother and six siblings and Elizabeth was in receipt of parish relief. Kate worked as a domestic servant and married William Taylor in 1917 in Cambridge. William was a college ktichen porter and they had four children including William (1917-1959) and Ronald Edward (1923-2005). They lived at 8 Clement Place and then 12 Dalton Square (1939).

William Taylor (9 August 1891 – 1 February 1949)

Little is known of William’s life. Using the date of birth documented on the 1939 records he was 57 years old when he died, but his death registration gave his aged as 59 years old, as does the grave monument.
