Thomas Teversham (c.1839 – 5 March 1887)
Thomas was the son of George and Ann Teversham. Thomas was born and raised in Little Thurlow, Suffolk. He was baptised there on 16th June 1839. His father George was an agricultural labourer.
Thomas married Jane Marian Harding at St James’ Church, Paddington on 29th March 1864. They had one daughter – Mabel Rosa Teversham [1865-1962]. Mabel was born in Cambridge the year after Thomas and Jane married so they must have moved to Cambridge soon after marriage. They lived at 35 Green Street, and Thomas was a ‘college servant’, although it is not known in what capacity nor in which college.
Thomas died in 1887 aged 48 years old. He left an estate valued at £133, 14s and 6d.
Jane Marian Teversham[nee Harding] (c.1841 – 16 May 1923)
Jane was born in Cambridge and grew up on Queen Street, with her father Matthew and mother Jane. She married Thomas Teversham when she was 23 years old. After being widowed she continued to live at 35 Green Street and ran it as a lodging house with her daughter Mabel helping her. She appears in the 1904 Kelly’s directory as ‘Mrs Jane Teversham, apartments, 35 Green Street’. She died at 2 New Square, in May 1923 aged 82 years old, leaving an estate valued at £162, 10s.
Mabel Rosa Teversham never married and died aged 97 years old at the Walnut Tree Hospital in Huntingdon.
