William Martin Halls Thompson (1892‒1918), who died on 17 November 1918, aged 27, was on the register of Shipping and Seamen, and had been awarded medals. At this point, in which force he served is not known nor is anything about the circumstances of his death.
William was born in Cambridge in 1892. He was the oldest son of William Arthur Thompson, a college kitchen servant from Houghton in Huntingdonshire, and Mary Ann Thompson from Clavering in Essex. In 1901 William and Mary had five children, Matilda Day, William Martin Halls, Sidney George Judd, Ada Maud and Albert Edward. They lived at 72 Sedgwick Street, Romsey Town, Cambridge.
