William John Tinworth (5 November 1876 – 24 March 1943)

William was born in Cambridge and was the son of Alfred and Charlotte Tinworth.  Alfred Tinworth was a general labourer and Charlotte was a charwoman. The family lived at 9 Custom Street [1881], 1a Lower York Street [1891] and 37 Paradise Street [1901].  By 1901 William was working as a bus conductor.  In 1911 he was still living at 37 Paradise Street with his widowed mother and siblings.  He was working as a cab driver at that time.

He married Martha Miriam Northrop later in 1911.  Martha had been working as domestic servant to the Greef family in April 1911 at their home at St Andrew’s Terrace. William and Martha had at least one child Joyce Gwendolyn [1911-1995].  In 1939  he and Martha were living at 1 York Street, and he was working as a taxi driver.  He died in 1943 aged 66 years old.
