This very large headstone has suffered considerable erosion.

This headstone, in the parish area of St Paul, is located under a large tree, ten rows to the east of the western path. It has suffered considerable erosion.

Benjamin Ward (1821-1887)

Benjamin was born in Essex. He moved to Cambridge with his wife and eldest child, George, about 1850. He worked as a porter before becoming a baker and living in Covent Garden. Finally he became the publican at the Three Swans, Mill Road but also stated that he was  a baker and bricklayer (1861 census). Benjamin was 66 when he died. He was living on Mill Road, Cambridge.

Esther Ward (1820-1903)

Esther was born in Great Parndon, Essex. It is not known when she married Benjamin but together they had at least seven children. Esther was living at Laburnum Road, Epsom when she died at the age of 82.

Harry Russell Ward (1881-1893)

Harry was the grandson of the above and the youngest child of Harry and Eliza Ward. His father was publican of the Six Bells and the family were living at 11 Covent Garden when he died at the age of 11. By the 1901 census the family were living in Epsom Surrey where Harry snr was a hotel keeper.
