For 50 years in the service of the family of the late
Mr STEPHEN THROWER
born April 3rd 1810 died July 23rd 1883

Sarah Warrington (1810-1883)

Sarah was born to Jon and Sarah Warringon. She was baptised in the parish church of St Giles on May 13th 1810. Nothing is known of her early life but by the age of 20 she was employed in the household of Stephen and Elizabeth Thrower. Stephen Thrower was a linen draper in Cambridge. He is listed as a candidate for the election of members of the Borough of Cambridge on July 26 1837, where he is described as of St Mary’s Passage. He died in 1843 at the age of 68 and was  buried in the churchyard at St Mary the Great where there is a monument to him and two of his sons, Frederick and Charles.

Sarah continued to work for Elizabeth Thrower until her death. Elizabeth died in 1897 at the age of 92 and is buried in the parish of Mary the Less.
