George White (c.1862 – 18 January 1891)

Little is known of George’s early life. He married Fanny Linton in 1886 and the couple went to live at 15 Eden Street. They had three children: Gilbert Vernon (1888-1951), Annie Maria (1889-1969) and another child who died as an infant.  George died at Eden Street aged 28 years.

Fanny White (née Linton) (c.1862 – 1 August 1931)

Fanny was born in Oakington and was the daughter of Soloman and Jane (née Norman) Linton. Her father was described on census records as a ‘dealer’ and died when Fanny was young. She grew up with her mother and sisters in Oakington.  She later went into service and in 1881 was a housemaid in the Venter household on Hills Road.  She married George White when she was c.23 years old and widowed five years later.  She raised her children at 15 Eden Street (1901/1911) and was still living at the address when she died in 1931.  She died however at the Infirmary on Mill Road aged 69 years.
