Inscription

Lucy Woodcock (née Copper) (2 December 1856 – 17 January 1898)

Lucy was born in Rottingdean, Sussex and was baptised on 28 December 1856.  She was the daughter of  John and Charlotte, and her father worked as an agricultural labourer.  Lucy married  David Woodcock (1851-1943) in 1879 and they had two daughters: Rosetta Susan (1880-1958) and Lucy Lillian (1884-1885). In 1881 the family were living at 1 Knightsbridge Gardens, and David was working as a servant. It is thought that David later served as a soldier, as in 1901 he was described as an army pensioner.  What brought the family to Cambridge is not known and Lucy died in the town aged 41 years old.

David married again in 1908 to Sarah (1871-) and died in Belper, Derbyshire in May 1943.
