Charles Large Brown (29 December 1848 – 4 March 1922)

Charles was born at 24 Broad Street and was the son of Charles and Mary (née Large) Brown. Charles (Snr) was a sawyyer and Mary worked as a laundress. He married Rachel Pink in 1868 and they had eight children: Herbert Charles (1869-1943), Ernest Stephen (1872-1943), Jesse William (1875-1943), Alfred David (1876-1936), Kate Naomi (1878-1935), Horace Edward (1883-1944), Bertie (1887-) and Harold (1889-). Charles worked as a railway engine fitter and the family lived at 9 Broad Street (1871), 24 Fitzroy Street (1881), 5 Upper Gwydir Street (1891) and then 39 Sturton Street (at least 1901 onwards). He died at home aged 73 years old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 7 March 1922.

Rachel Brown (née Pink) (1848 – 30 March  1924)

Rachel was the daughter of labourer William Pink (1814 – 1859 ) and Naomi (née Wilkin) (1811-1879) and grew up at Coldham Lane. Her father died when she was 10 years old and she then lived with her mother at 12 Occupation Road (1861), and Naomi worked as a needlewoman. She married Charles Brown when she was 19 years old.  Rachel died at 53 Milton Road and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 3 April 1924.
