Martha Cole (c.1820 – 27 December 1893)

Martha was the eldest child of Simon and Ann Cole.  She was born in Holywell cum Needingworth, and baptised there on 10th October 1820. Her father was a farmer, and she had two siblings William [1821-] and Harriett [1824-1893].  William Cole took over the family farm and in 1851 Martha was living with him and a servant in Silver Street, Holywell.  William Cole was farming 145 acres and employing 5 labourers.

In 1861 Martha was living with her parents on Regent Street, in Cambridge. Her father had retired there after farming.  Her father died in 1866, and she then lived with her mother at 79 Norwich Street [1871].  In 1881  she was living with her sister Harriett and brother-in-law William at 63 Regent Street.  After William’s death Harriett and Martha lived together at the house.

She died on 27th December at 63 Regent Street, the day after her sister. She left an estate valued at £5,643 8s and 3d.
