Jane Elizabeth Schneider (née Clarke) ( 1846 – 3 November 1925)
Jane was born in Birmingham, but grew up in Arrington, Cambridgeshire (1851) and then 1 Broad Street (1861). She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth and her father was a coach maker. Jane married Edward Charter (1843-1888) in Arrington in 1869 and they had at least five children: George Edward (1869-1947), Jane (1871-1943), Elliot John (1873-1885), Selina Eliza (1875-1963) and Lilian (1879-1965). Edward was an agricultural labourer and they lived in Arrington (1871) and then Longstowe (1881). Jane was widowed in 1888 and married for a second time in 1890 to Ludwig Schneider (1833-1928). Ludwig was a german widower with three children: Gottfried (1870-1949), Ludwig (1874-) and Teresa Henrietta (1882-1960). He worked as a printer and the blended family lived at 44 Perowne Street (1891), 44 Gold Street (1901), 20 Cross Street (1911) and 3 Paradise Place. Jane’s second daughter from her first marriage – Selina was blind and attended a blind school/institution in Liverpool from at least 1891 onwards. Jane died at Paradise Place aged 79 years old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 7 November 1925.
Frederick Thomas Dockerill (30 May 1875 – 20 February 1937)
Frederick was the husband of Elizabeth’s youngest daughter Lilian Charter. He was the son of police constable Richard Dockerill and his wife Emma (née Carlton) and grew up at 15 South Street (1881), 151 Sturton Street (1891) and 46 Abbey Road (1911). He worked as a telegraph messenger and later as a ‘commission agent’s clerk’ (1911) . Frederick married Lilian Charter (1879-1965) in 1913 and they lived at 71 Maid’s Causeway (at least 1920-1935). He died at Mill Road Infirmary aged 61 years old.
