Ann Hurrell (née Webb) (1847 – 20 August 1921)

Ann was born in Bourn to William and Sarah Webb. She grew up at Caxton End, Bourn and her father was an agricultural labourer.  Aged 14 Ann was working as a housemaid in Bourn before moving to live at 19 Wellington Street, Cambridge where she worked as a milliner (1871). She had one daughter out of wedlock: Gertrude (1869-1937) before marrying Simeon Hurrell in 1875. They lived in Wickhambrook, Suffolk where Simeon was a licensed hawker/shopkeper (1881/1891). By 1901 the couple had moved to live at 236 Mill Road with granddaughter Emily Edgeley (daughter of Gertrude), who they raised as their own. Simeon worked as a corn agent/general commission agent in Cambridge and Ann died at home aged 74 years old.

Simeon Hurrell (1853 – 11 January 1936)

Simeon was born in Wickhambrook, a village ten miles south west of Bury St Edmunds and grew up there with his parents James and Miriam. James Hurrell was an agricultural labourer and aged 20 Simeon was working as the same. He died at 236 Mill Road and his funeral took place on 14 January.
