EMILY FLORENCE LEGGE died Oct 13 1910 age 28

Emily Florence Legge (née Stearn) (1883 – 13 October 1910)

Emily was registered as Florence Emily, but seems to have reversed her first two names and was known as Emily Florence.  She was the daughter of Walter and Harriet Stearn and was born and raised in Fulbourn where her father was the tailor for the Fulbourn Asylum.  By the age of 18 she was working as a kitchen maid at 10 Stanhope Gardens in Kensington.  The house was owned by widow Mrs Middleton who lived alone with her ten servants including one footman.

Emily married Frank Legge (1875-1950) in Cambridge on 1 October 1904.  Frank was a cab driver/groom (carriage driver) who later became a chauffeur.  The couple had three children: Edgar Frank (1905-1982), Sidney Claude (1907-1911) and Florence Emily (1910-1915).  It may be supposed that Emily died giving birth to Florence.

After her death Frank returned to live with his father at 65 Newmarket Road with the three children.  Both his younger children died within five years of their mother and are also buried in the same grave.

Sidney Claude died in May 1911 aged 4 and Florence Emily Legge died in February 1915 aged 4. Both children died in hospital.
