Hannah Maria Leverington (née Long) (1859 – 8 March 1917)

Hannah was born in Morley, near Wymondham in Norfolk and baptised there on 22 May 1859. She was the daughter of carpenter George Frederick Long and his wife Susannah (née Merry).  In 1881 Hannah was working as a housemaid for Rev. Henry Collison at the Rectory in Bilney, near King’s Lynn.  She married Thomas Leverington on 17 December 1884 in Norfolk and they had six children: Harry (1886-1952), James (1888-1940), Emily (1891-1967), May (1893-1970), Thomas (1898-1976) and John (1902-1987). Thomas worked as a plumber/decorator and later as a painter/decorator.  The family moved around and the childen were born in Peterborough, Norfolk, Newmarket and Cambridge. In 1891 they were living in Newmarket, but by the time daughter May was born they had settled at 75 Catherine Street, Cambridge. Hannah died at Catherine Street and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 13 May 1917.

Thomas Leverington (3 July 1854 – 14 March 1942)

Thomas was born in Westervoort, Holland and was the son of Thomas and Mary (née Trollop). His father was a railway contractor and he had lived in Holland, London and Ledbury, Herefordshire by the age of 10.  By the time he was 16 his father had died, and Mary Leverington had returned to live in her native Norfolk.  Thomas was working as an agricultural labourer before his marriage to Hannah in 1884.  By 1939 he had retired and was living at 75 Catherine Street with his daughter Emily. He died at Catherine Street aged 87 years old.

Emily Leverington (31 July 1891 – 4 February 1967)

Emily was the eldest daughter of Thomas and Hannah and ws born in Newmarket. She worked as a servant in a private school (1911) and later as a college bedmaker (1939). She died at 75 Catherine Street aged 75 years old.
