Monument

This small headstone stands about 20 metres to the west of the east path in the south east corner of the parish. It is in an area that is usually left to grow wild but revealed during clearance in 2022.

Inscription

In Loving Memory of our darling EVELYN dearly beloved daughter of G & F MERRISON Who fell  asleep in Jesus Nov 19 1912. Aged 11 years.
“Jesus called a little child to Him. For such is the Kingdom of Heaven.”

Evelyn Edith Merrison (1901 – 19 November 1912)

Evelyn was the daughter of Frank and Gertrude Merrison.  She was born in Swanage, but by 1911 was living at 62 Gwydir Street with her parents and brothers Reggie and Percy.  Frank Merrison was a butcher and they had already had one child die before 1911.

Evelyn died at the Sanitorium and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 22 November.
