He was baptised on 26 December 1847.  He married Eleanor Warren in London in 1867 and the couple had at least four children: Robert Harvey (1870-1959), Frank Daniel (1871-1940), Eleanor Alice (1873-) and Edward William (1875-1949).  Edward took over the family butchery business, and in 1871 the family were living at 22 Coronation Street.  His youngest child Edward was born in Islington in July 1875, and Edward died in London aged 32 years old.

Eleanor Swann (née Warren) (c.1842 – 12 March 1906)

She died at Cherry Hinton Road aged 62 years old.
