John Wade (1859 – 7 March 1924)

John was born in the village of Ketton, Rutland which lies between Oakham and Stamford and was the eldest son of Thomas and Mary (née Wade) Wade. Thomas was a farmer/stone merchant who died when John was c.6 years old.  His widowed mother worked as a dressmaker and John grew up with his four brothers in Ketton. In 1881 he was living in Saxby, Leicestershier and working as a coal agent. John married Alice Porter in Nottingham in 1889 and they had two children: John Thomas (1890-1947)  and Gertrude Louisa (1892-1966).  They had moved to Cambride by the time son John was born the year after their marriage. John later worked as a labourer (1891) and  yard foreman for builder Messrs. Arthur Negus and Son (at least 1901 onwards) . The family lived at 1 Monmouth Terrace, Brookfields (1891), 4 Hemingford Road (at least 1901-1911) and 3 Romsey Terrace (at least 1914 onwards). John died at home aged 61 years old.

Alice Wade (née Porter) (1860 – 27 March 1937)

Alice was born in Easton on the Hill, near Stamford and was baptised there on 1 February 1863. She was the daughter of James and Matilda and her father was a slater (someone who places slates on roofs). Alice also died at Romsey Terrace and her funeral took place on 30 March 1937.

John Thomas Wade (6 June 1890 –  27 May 1947)

John was the only son of John and Alice Wade and worked as a printer’s compositor.  He married Elsie May Foreman (1890-1950) in 1920, it is thought that John worked with Elsie’s brother Sidney.  They lived at 64 Alpha Road and John died at home aged 56 years old. His funeral took place on  30 May.

His widow Elsie died in February 1950 and might have been buried in the same grave, but the burial records do not cover that far.
