Elizabeth Bradford (née Charter) (c.1804 – 31 July 1874)

Elizabeth was born in Steeple Morden (a village 15 miles south west of Cambridge) and married John Bradford on 19 December 1827.  The couple had at least four children: Thomas (1829-1895), Elizabeth Charter (1836-1905), Jane Charter (1839-1930) and Mary Ann (1846-1862).  John was a servant at Clare College and the family lived at 33 Green Street (1851 to at least 1871). Elizabeth died at Clare Cottage, Castle End after what newspapers called ‘a short but severe illness’.

John Bradford (c.1804 – 21 November 1880)

John was born in Pampisford and baptised there on 3 March 1805. He was the son of Thomas and Ann Bradford and married when he was 22 years old.  By 1871 he was recorded as being a pensioner of Clare College. He died at Clare Cottage aged 76 years old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 23 November.

Mary Ann Bradford (c.1846 – 23 March 1862)

Mary Ann was the youngest daughter of John and Elizabeth.  She was baptised on 21 January 1846 and died at Green Street aged 16 years old.  She died after what was described as ‘a short but severe illness’ and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery  on 28 March.
