George Harry Franklin  (Harry) (1848 – 17 June 1936)

Harry was the son of George and Elizabeth and was baptised on 8 October 1848.  His father was a millwright and he grew up on the High Street in Chesterton.  Aged 21 Harry was working as a maltster and married Sarah Ann Papworth (1849-1891) on 1 May 1872 in Chesterton.  They had at least seven children: Agnes (1872-1918), William Harry (1874-1941), George (1877-1927), Frederick Hermond (1880-1964), Charles D (1882-), Elizabeth (1884-1890) and Sidney (1888-).

They lived at Ainsworth Street and in 1881 Harry was working as a fireman for G.E.R. ( Great Eastern Railway). He was widowed in November 1891 when Sarah died at Addenbrookes Hospital.  He married for a second time in 1893 to Mary Forscutt.  The couple had at least six children together: Joe (1894-1969), Arthur Robert (1894-1951), Gladys Mary (1897-1995), Bertie (1900-), Albert Edward (1902-1986) and Reginald (1904-1962).  They continued to live at 94 Ainsworth Street and Harry eventually became an engine driver for G.E.R.  He died at Ainsworth Street aged 87 years old.

Mary Ann Franklin (née Forscutt) (10 November 1859 – 1 December 1948)

Mary was born in Brampton, near Huntingdon and was the daughter of agricultural worker William.   After she was widowed Mary went to live at 338 Mill Road with her son Reginald and his family.  She died in Ilford, Essex aged 89 years old.
