Benjamin Bull (c.1825 – 1890)
Benjamin was born in Ixworth in Suffolk. He was the son of Benjamin and Mary Ann Bull, and his brother was Michael Bull, who is also buried at Mill Road Cemetery. His father was a builder, who later became an inn-keeper. In 1851 Benjamin was living at 10 Mustow Street in Bury St Edmunds and working as a carpenter. By 1861 he was still living at home, and was a builder employing one man. He married Harriet Juby in 1864 when he was 39 years old, and they lived initially at 17 East Gate Street [1871] before moving to 54 Sturton Street [1881]. Benjamin was a master carpenter.
Harriet and Benjamin had at least two children: Agnes [1864-1950] and Benjamin [1867-1932].
Benjamin Bull [Snr] died in Cambridge between April and June of 1980. He was 65 years old.
Harriet Bull [nee Juby] (24 May 1826 – 19 February 1909)
Harriet was born in Bury St Edmunds and baptised at St James’ Church on 1st June 1826. Her parents were Robert and Sarah Juby. In 1851 Harriet was 25 years old and living with her widowed mother and sister – all three of them were working as launderesses. In 1861 she was still a launderess in Bury St Edmunds, but was by now living and working alone. She married Benjamin Bull when she was 38 years old.
After being widowed in 1890 she then moved to Aughton in Lancashire, where her daughter Agnes was a teacher in an elementary school. Her son Benjamin also lived with them and was a grocer’s assistant. By 1901 Agnes Bull had moved back to Cambridge and was living at 115 Sturton Street, next to her Uncle Michael. Harriet and Benjamin were living at 66 Water Street in Accrington, and Benjamin had become an iron moulder. Harriet died in Accrington in 1909 aged 82 years old and is interred in Accrington, but remembered in Mill Road Cemetery with her husband Benjamin [Snr]
