Robert John Hardy (c.1850 – 4 May 1916)
Robert was the son of Robert and Ann (née Daniels) and was baptised at St. Andrew the Less on 28 July 1850. He grew up at12 Burleigh Place (1851), 8 Adam and Eve Row (1861) and 174 East Road (1871). Robert Hardy (Senior) worked as a house painter and glazier and by the age of 21 Robert was working in the same profession.
He married Louisa Norris in 1880 and they had four children: Arthur Charles (1881-), Cecil Algernon (1884-1970), Ada (1887-1957) and Florence Cornella (1896-1903). The family lived at 13 Orchard Street (1881) and then at Sturton Street (at least 1891 onwards). Robert died in 1916.
Louisa Annie Hardy (née Norris) (1852 – 7 April 1913)
Louisa was the daughter of baptist minister Charles Norris and his wife Rhoda (née Barnard) and was born in Sawston. Aged 8 she was living with her family at Bridge End in Saffron Walden. Louisa died aged 60 years old.
Florence Cornella Hardy (1896 -16 March 1903)
Florence died at 132 Sturton Street just after her 7th birthday. Her middle name was after Louisa’s elder sister of the same name.
