Elizabeth Ann Allen (née Softley) (1845 – 6 September 1932)

Elizabeth was born in Castle Acre, Norfolk and baptised in Swaffham on 5 October 1845. She was the daughter of James and Elizabeth (née Allen)  and grew up in King’s Lynn where her father was a carpenter (1851). By 1861 the Softley family had moved to live at St. Ives, near Huntingdon and Elizabeth was working as a milliner’s apprentice. She married William Allen in St. Ives in 1867 and they had four children: Annie Elizabeth (1868-), Florence Mary (1869-1958), Frederick Willam (1873-) and Sydney James (1877-1954). William worked for Great Eastern Railway and the family lived at  Norwich Street (1871/1881), 29 Tenison Road (1891),  Mawson Road (at least 1901 onwards). Elizabeth died at home and her funeral took place on 10 September 1932.

William Allen (1844 – 20 August 1936)

William was born in Ely and aged 17 was lodging in Wisbech and working as a railway engine cleaner. He worked as a the foreman of the Great Eastern Railway Locomotive Depot in Cambridge (1891/1901) and had retired by 1911. William Allen died at 65 Mawson Road aged 92 year old.
