Harriett Barrett  (née Ashton) (c.1789 – 25 December 1848)

Harriett was born in London and married John Barrett on 13 June 1809. John was a draper, who had a shop at 13 Market Place and the couple had  at least thirteen children: Edward (1810-1837), John (1812-1815), Frederick (1813-1885), Henry (1816-1817), Jane (1818-1822), Mary Catharine (1819-1820), Robert (1821-1894), Mary (1823-1860), Harriett (1825-1878), Alfred (1827-1827), Ashton (1831-1832) and Agnes (1833-1919). Harriett died on Christmas Day 1948  ‘of disease of the heart’.

John Barrett (10 June 1785 – 8 November  1871)

John was born in St. Ives, to the north of Cambridge and married Harriett when he was 24 years old. He worked with his sons Frederick and Robert with daughter Harriett acted as their housekeeper (1861). He died at Market Place aged 85 years old.
