Herbert Alfred Bennett (1864 – 15 June 1934)
Herbert was born in Chelsea and married Sarah Ann Jacobsin Cambridge in 1886. The couple had three children: Daisy Victoria (1887-1973), William Harvey (1889-1970) and Dorothy Gladys (1894-1971). They appear to have spent the first few years of their marriage in London where their eldest two children were born but by 1891 had moved to live at 30 Portugal Place. Herbert was a clerk and also ran a Lodging House from 30 Portugal Place (1891). By 1901 the family had moved to 1 Portugal Place where he was documented as being an assistant accountant for the borough council. By 1918 Herbert, Sarah and youngest daughter Dorothy had moved to 7 Clement Gardens and he died aged 70 years old.
Sarah Ann Bennett (née Jacobs) (26 April 1866 – 14 May 1950)
Sarah was born in Stretham and was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Ann Jacobs. Thomas was a farmer of 20 acres and Sarah was a pupil at Miss Thorndick’s boarding school at 35 Bridge Street, Cambridge (1881). After she was widowed she ran a lodging house from 7 Clement Gardens with daughter Dorothy and died at home aged 84 years old.
Dorothy Gladys Bennett (4 March 1894 – 23 February 1971)
Dorothy died at 7 Clement Gardens aged 76 years old.
