Sarah Bolton (1852 – 22 May 1923)

Sarah was born in Wroughton, near Swindon, Wiltshire  and baptised there on 6 June 1852.  She was the daughter of labourer Nathaniel and Elizabeth (née  Simpkins) Bolton and in 1881 was working as a housekeeper for Rev. Elijah Simms and his family in Nottingham. Elijah was the chaplain and superintendant of theNottingham General  Cemetery located at Canning Street and was a widow with  five children.  She worked for the Foster family at Pinehurst, 33 Grange Road  from at least 1901 onwards.  Charles Foster was a banker/corn merchant and Sarah worked as a lady’s maid. She died at the Evelyn Nursing Home aged 71 years old and her funeral took place on 24 May 1923.
