Agnes Bowtell (née Cranfield) (1865 – 23 June 1914)
Agnes was the fourth daughter of Gill and Lucy (née Stevens) and was born in Downham, two and a half miles north east of Ely. She was baptised in Downham on 15 September 1867 and grew up at Town’s End, where her father was a carpenter. She married William Bowtell in 1886 and they had two daughters: Ruby Agnes (1889-1965) and Florence Edith (known as Flora) (1891-1972). William worked as a railway signalman and they lived in Great Shelford (1891) and then 43 Vinery Road (1911). Agnes died at home aged 49 years old and her funeral took place on 27 June. William left a wreath at the graveside with the message ‘To our dearest, from her sorrowing husband and children – ye shall be remembered one by one’.

William was born in Great Shelford and baptised there on 27 December 1863. He was the son of Jesse and Sophia (née Ellum) and his father worked as a general labourer.
