Sarah Ann Brand (née Howlett) (9 November 1857 – 18 December 1911)
Sarah was the daughter of Sergeant John Howlett and Mary Anne (née Thomas). John served with the Royal Artillery 24th Brigade and she was born in the garison town of Cawnpore India, where he was involved with the Seige of Cawnpore. Sarah was baptised on 13 December 1857 in Ferozepore, Bengal. John left the army in 1863 and the family moved to live at 43 Covent Garden (1871). Sarah married George Brand in 1876 and they had three chidlren: George Sidney (1879-), Ethel May (1882-1962) and one more child who died as an infant. They lived at 6 Covent Garden and George worked as a warehouse labourer (1881), general labourer (1891) and school caretaker (1911). Sarah died at home aged 54 years old and her funeral took place on 21 December.
George Brand (1853 – 27 October 1927)
George was the son of John and Johanna and was born in Bottisham. He grew up on the High Street and his father was an agricultural labourer. Aged 18 George was still living at home and also working as an agricultural labourer. After he was widowed he lived at 1 Millers Almshouses, Victoria Road and died at Mill Road Infirmary.
