Inscription
In Sacred Remembrance Of
LEN JAY my dearest husband died April 20 1924 age 42 years,
Also MARTHA ELIZABETH DESSENT died Feb 18 1939 age 69 years
Relationship: Son in law and mother in law
Frank Leonard Jay (c 1881- 1924)

Leonard Jay was probably born in North Aylesford, Kent. He became an engineer. It is also possible that he married Sarah Ellen Humphrey in 1899 and had two children. Sarah died in 1914 in Kent.
He married Dorothy Ada Dessent in 1915 in Keighley, Yorkshire. They had a daughter in December of that year. By 1920 they had moved to Cambridge where they lived at The Bell in Peas Hill, which is where he died.
His widow married Oscar James Andrews in 1927 and went to live at 83 Mill Road and then 17 Madras Road. She died in 1989 in Northamptonshire at the age of 94.
Martha Elizabeth Dessent (née Smith) (c1870 – 1939)
Martha was born in Colchester. She married Elijah Dessent in 1892 in Essex. They had five children and eventually settled in Keighley. After her husband’s death, in 1936, she presumably moved to Cambridge to be near her daughter and died in Mill Road infirmary.
