Richard Henry Edwards (1800 – 4 June 1848)

It is believed that Richard Henry was the son of Richard and Ann Catherine Edwards who was baptised at the church of Andrew the Great on September 12th 1800. He became a  cook and married Mary Ann Burroughs on 3 October 1826 at St. Andrew the Great Church.  The couple had at least three children: Richard, William and Ann Maria (1835-1837) and lived at Kings Parade (1841) and then at 18 Trinity Street.

In March 1845 thirteen year old George Mills was charged with having obtained pastry from Richard with ‘intent to defraud’ and was sentenced to one week’s imprisonment with solitary confinement. Richard died aged 48 years and  was buried at All Saints’ Church on 8 June 1848.

William Edwards (1829 – 20 May 1850)

William died aged 21 and was buried on 26 May.

Richard Henry Edwards (c.1828 –  7 August 1855)

Richard worked as a cook and confectioner and in 1851 was working with his mother at Trinity Street. He died at home aged 27 years old and was buried on 12 July.

Mary Ann Edwards (née Burroughs) (1800 – 1877)

Mary was born in North Pickenham, near Swaffham in Norfolk and married when she was 26.  She worked as a cook/confectioner from Trinity Street (1851/1861) before running a Lodging House at 7 Jesus Lane (1871) and died aged 77 years old.
