“At Rest

Elizabeth Ann Ellis (née Bull) (1836 – 15 December 1916)

Elizabeth was the daughter of Charles and Ann and was baptised at St. Clement’s Church on 9 August 1836. Charles was a tailor and Elizabeth  grew up with her six siblings at 14 Clement Place.  She married William Ellis (1834-) on 24 June 1860 at St. Marylebone Church in London. William was also a tailor and  in 1861 the couple were living on Bridport Road in Marylebone.  Elizabeth and William had six children: Louisa Kate (1861-1952), Beatrice M (1873-), one son (as yet unidentified) and a further three children  who died as infants.

It is not known when Elizabeth was widowed, but by 1891 she had returned to Cambridge. and was running a Lodging House at 72 Rhadegund Terrace. In 1901 the Lodging House had moved to 72 Jesus Lane, and Elizabeth was living ther with daughter Beatrice and grandson William Ellis (born in Torquay and presumed to be the son of Elizabeth’s unidentified son).  She was still running the Lodging House in 1911 from Jesus Lane aged 72 years. She died at home in December 1916.
