William Robert Finbow (1881 – 16 June 1923)
William was born in Redingfield, near Eye,Suffolk and was the son of Charles and Esther. His father was a farm labourer and he grew up in Great Clacton, Essex (1891). William worked as a plasterer before marrying Annie Griffiths on 24 December 1903 at St. John the Baptist Church, Great Clacton. The couple moved to live at 41 Kingston Street Cambridge and had four children: Harold William (1904-1985), Herbert Charles (1906-1989), Cyril Stanley (1907-2002) and Olive Frances (1912-2003), all of whom where born in Cambridge.
By 1911 William was working as a cab driver/motor engineer and enlisted in the army on 29 March 1917, by which time the family were living at 52 Gwydir Street. He left the army in February 1919 and the family moved to live at 1 Hooper Street in 1920. William died at Hanging Bridge, Mayfield just outside Ashbourne in Derbyshire, where he was run over by a lorry. His funeral took place on 21 June 1923.
Ann (Annie) Finbow (née Griffiths) (9 July 1878 – 13 January 1964)
Annie was born in the village of Netherton, near Dudley, the daughter of David and Patience (née Smith). David worked in a ironworks and she grew up in Dudley (1881) and then Greenwich, where David worked as a labourer in a shipyard (1891/1901). Aged 23 Annie was living at home, and was a Salvation Army Officer. She married William Finbow when she was 25 years old.
In 1939 Annie was by herself at 181 Cherry Hinton Road and died aged 85 years old.
