In Loving Memory of SARAH FORSDYKE who entered into rest Jan 6 1913 age 80 years
Also ARTHUR FORSDYKE husband of the above who departed this life Oct 12 1929 age 80 years
Sarah Forsdyke (née Fisk) (c.1813 – 6 January 1913)
Sarah was born in Henham and in 1851 was living in Ipswich and working as a furrier. She married Arthur Forsdyke on 23 March 1873 in Suffolk and they had four sons: Arthur Frank (1873-1946), Ernest Oscar (1874-1959), George Seymour (1876-c.1877) and George Seymour (1880-1953). The family had moved to live at 7 Blossom Street by at least 1880 and Arthur worked as a joiner/carpenter. He appears to have worked away from home and in 1881/1891 was lodging elsewhere whilst Sarah raised the family at Blossom Street.
In 1911 the couple were living together at Blossom Street and Arthur was working as a carpenter in a building company. Sarah died in early 1913.
Arthur Forsdyke (1848 – 12 October 1929)
Arthur was born in Debenham, Suffolk – a village north of Ipswich and was the son of Francis and Hannah (née Balaam). He was baptised on 13 May 1849 and became a carpenter like his father. He appears to have been a journeyman carpenter as in 1881 he was lodging in Northampton, and in 1891 was lodging in Ramsey, Essex. By at least 1923 he had moved to live at the Victoria Asylum, Victoria Road [a retirement home] He died there aged 81 years old and his funeral was held at Mill Road Cemetery chapel on 16 October.
