Susannah (Susan) Goult (née Potter) (1825 – 22 June 1902)
Susan was born in Cockfield, near Lavenham, Suffolk and was baptised there on 12 February 1825. She was the daughter of agricultural labourer Henry Potter and Charlotte. The family lived in Bradfield St. Clare and in 1841 Susan was living in the same village as her parents and working as a servant. In 1851 she and her sister Frances were working as servants for farmer William Woller, also in Bradfield St. Clare. She married Robert Goult in 1858 and in 1881 the couple were living at a cottage in Gazeley where he was an engine driver on a farm. Neither Robert or Susan have been found on the 1861/1871/1891 or 1901 census. Susan died at 80 Mill Road. Her age at death was given as 75 years, but it is thought she was actually 77 years old. Her funeral took place on 26 June.
Robert Goult (1832 – 7 April 1909)
Robert was born in Gazeley, Suffolk and baptised there on 11 March 1832. He grew up in Gazeley with his parents Joseph and Susan (née Prattle) and five siblings and Joseph worked as an agricultural labourer. Robert also died at 80 Mill Road aged 77 years old.
