James Gray (1873 – 14 June 1931)
James was the son of labourer William and Elizabeth Gray and grew up on the High Street in Chesterton. Aged 17 he was working as an agricultural labourer and married Florence Livermore in 1897. The couple lived at 22 Catherine Street (1901) and then Ross Street (1911 onwards) and had two daughters: Elsie May (1898-1984) and Gertrude Nellie (1899-1974). James worked as a G.E.R. fireman and later as an engine driver. He died at home aged 57 years old.
Florence Kate Gray (née Livermore) (8 June 1875 – 15 April 1954)
Florence was born in Great Eversden and baptised there on 4 July 1875. She was the daughter of James and Eliza and grew up at 83 Emery Street (1881). Her father James worked as a brickmaker. In 1891 Florence was 15 and working as a general servant to the Anscott family at 30 Emery Street. After she was widowed she lived with her two daughters at 5 Ross Street (1939) and died there aged 78 years old.
Gertrude Nellie Gray (9 October 1899 – 19 September 1974)
Gertrude worked as a builder’s merchant clerk (1939) and died at 5 Ross Street aged 74 years old.
Elsie May Gray (28 March 1898 – 21 July 1984)
Elsie was the elder sister of Gertrude and lived with her and their mother at 5 Ross Street (1939). She worked as a piano teacher and died at a retirement home in Gresham Road aged 86 years old.
