Anne Hall (née Rayner) (c.1896 – 12 November 1864)

Ann was born in Bocking, near Ilford, Essex and married Thomas Hall on 11 October 1838 at All Saints’ Church. Thomas was a college cook and the pair lived at Manor Place (1841) and 29 Malcolm Street (at least 1851 onwards). In 1851 they were living with Anne’s 14 year old niece Anne Pearl, servant Eliza Brown and an undergraduate lodger.  Anne died at home ‘after a long and painful illness, borne with Christian patience and resignation…greatly respected by all who knew her’.

From Parish burial records it is known that Ann’s husband Thomas is also buried in the same grave.

Thomas Nunn Hall (c.1794 – 23 July 1869)

Thomas was the son of John and Mary (née Nunn) and was baptised at St. Giles’ Church on 26 July 1795. He was 44 years old when he married Anne, so they might have both been married before.  He was a college cook and died  died at Jesus Lane aged 75 years old. His funeral was held on 27  July.
