Winnie was the only daughter of William (Willie) Victor Hall (1875-1937) and Sarah Jane (née Robbins) (1873-1942). Willie was a bakery manager and the couple married in June 1899 in Apsley End, Hertfordshire.  In 1901 they were living in Watford, where Winnie was born in August 1901.  They family moved to Cambridge when Willie got a position as bakery manager for the Co-op, and they lived at 52 Abbey Road (1911). Winnie died the following year, a month before her eleventh birthday.

Her parents remained in Cambridge and moved to live at St. Venant, Newmarket Road. They both died in Cambridge.
