Emma Harradine (née Davey) (1856 – 16 January 1911)

Emma was the daughter of Elijah and Sarah and grew up at Gloucester Place. Elijah was a plumber who died when she was 6 years old  and aged 21 Emma was working as a housemaid at Felstead Grammar School in Essex. She married widower William Harradine in 1884 and they had two daughters: Alice Maud and Beatrice May. The family lived at 84 York Street and William worked as a bricklayer. Emma died in January 1911 and although her grave monument gives her age as 48 years old, it is believed she was actually 54 years old.

Beatrice May (May) Harradine ( 1893 – 12 December 1911)

May died aged 18 years old.

Alice Maud (Maud) Harradine (22 July 1885 – 19 September 1914)

Aged 15 Maud was working as a dressmaker’s apprentice and died aged 29 years old.

William Harradine (4 May 1851 – 11 February 1943)

William was the son of housepainter Henry and Harriet (née Reeves) and brother of Jim  and Sarah.  He grew up at 24 Gloucester Place and married Mary Ann King (1852-1883) on 26 June 1873 at Christ Church.  They lived at 9 Gloucester Place (1881) and had at least four children: Albert (1873-1961), Emily (1876-), Frederick (Fred) (1878-1960) and Jessie (1881-1883). Mary died in 1883 and William married Emma Davey the following year.

He married for a third time in 1914 to Catherine Mary Millard (1876-1955) and in 1939 the couple were living at 10 Melbourne Place.  William was documented as being a retired bricklayer, and Catherine was running a lodging house. He died at home aged 91 years.
